Lorraine CullenLorraine Cullen Chair of Trustees

Lorraine is an experienced Headteacher who has worked across many Local Authorities.  Her knowledge of strategic leadership has been strengthened by her role as National Leader of Education; this has been enhanced by a doctorate in Educational Leadership focused on Leading curriculum change.  Working locally and regionally, Lorraine has supported the leadership of many  schools, in challenging circumstances.  Her awareness of business finance and strategy has been developed through her role as the Chief Executive Officer of a successful Teaching school.  She has also served as a non-executive Director for an academy Trust and as an Accounting Officer for another.  Lorraine was an employee representative member of the Pilot TEF for the Office for Students.  She maintains her interest in educational research and development in her current role as a School Improvement Director.

Jean WilkinsJean Wilkins

Jean Wilkins has had 38 years of working in, and with, schools in Leicester City, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Nottingham City. Jean has been a headteacher in three schools, including a special school with hospital provision, a integrated mainstream nursery and an outreach provision, a church school and an infant school with a designated special provision for hearing impaired. In 2007, in recognition of the strength of her leadership, Jean was invited to work with Northamptonshire local authority to provide school support and challenge in its vulnerable schools and then continued in the post as a senior school improvement manager. In addition to her responsibility for supporting and challenging schools, Jean was also the local authority moderation manager for overseeing primary school writing outcomes and the local authority lead with its ten new Teaching Schools, helping to develop system led support across the county.

Peter BanksPeter Banks

Peter retired from his position as Internal Control Supervisor at Ford Motor Company, European Parts Operations in 2005.

He is a long serving past chair and current governor of The Grange School, Daventry, and long serving past chair of governors (and past pupil) of Badby School. He is a founder and current director of the Innovate Multi Academy Trust and founder and current director of the Inspire Multi Academy Trust.

 One of Peter’s passions is sport and he is a trustee of the Daventry and District Sports Trust and Director, Past President, Life Member and founder player of Daventry Rugby Football Club Ltd.

Jane MurrayJane Murray

Dr Jane Murray is an academic in the field of education, specialising in social justice issues in education and early childhood education. As an Associate Professor and Co-Director of the Centre for Education and Research at the University of Northampton, Jane’s work combines teaching, research and consultancy. Previously, she has led initial teacher education and Master’s degree programmes at the university and she supervises PhD and MA Education students. Jane’s research and consultancy work ranges from evaluations conducted in local schools to advising international NGOs and governments on education in countries as varied as Bhutan, Ethiopia, Georgia and the UK. Jane has more than 70 publications in the field of education. For two decades before she worked in higher education, Jane was a qualified teacher working in primary schools and early years settings; she has a headship qualification. Jane lives in Northamptonshire and she and her partner have three grown up children who were all educated in Northamptonshire state schools: two currently work in education and one is an RAF pilot.

Bill Dearns

Bill is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. He is a retired partner of a Chartered Accountancy practice in Daventry and was a Governor for over 25 years for a primary school also in Daventry. He was a board member (now retired) for a Northamptonshire Multi Academy Trust and is a trustee and the treasurer of a number of local charities. Bill will continue to provide sound financial advice as a Trustee for Ask Education.

Rebecca Martin

Rebecca has a long and varied career operating a senior level in Media and events companies. She now runs her own company running events and helping start up companies develop their commercial strategies for the European market.

Rebecca has a passion for social justice and, through various roles and projects, has tried hard to dedicate her time and skills to create a world where all children are able to fulfil their potential and where people, all over the world, have a safe and decent place to live.

Rebecca hopes to bring that drive and passion to her role with ASK Education.
